Squadron Leader Andy Green perches on the body of the Thrust SSC car prior to his test run in the supersonic car at the Defence Research Agency at Farnborough, Hampshire today (Monday). He admitted that despite the possibility of breaking the sound barrier he could "never be a Damon Hill!" The car will be airlifted next to the Jordanian desert for further tests before the attempt to pass the 800 mph mark on the American salt lakes next year.
