Very cool picture. Wouldn't get remotely that close to the cars these days without being behind 10ft mesh fences.

Thank you for your comments gentlemen, this photo was taken with a standard compact 35mm camera, no telephoto lenses in those days, I am as close to the cars as you see in the photo. It is sad to reflect that two months later von Trips was killed along with fifteen spectators during the Italian Grand Prix at Monza while he was leading the world championship.
