DECEMBER 31st: DONALD CAMPBELL 31/12/1964: Campbell breaks his own Water Speed record, by achieving 276.33 mph on Coniston Water. Donald Campbell was destined to break speed records on water and land. Son of Sir Malcolm Campbell, who set the land speed record in 1935, he was born in Horley, Surrey, in March 1921.
