Kirkconnel Junior School was closed in the early seventies with the construction of a new modern building in the town of Sanquhar 3 miles south of Kirkconnel. The school had many uses after its closure, A youth club, Dance hall, and An adult learning centre. Most of the school is now demolished but the Adult centre still going strong in the building on the Church side of the street.
