11th MAY : On this day in 1985 at least 52 people died after fire swept through a football stand at Bradford football stadium. The smoke still rises from the charred remains of the main stand at the Valley Parade football ground after the blaze which left over 50 dead and more than 200 injurd was brought under control. The fire swept the packed stand just before half-time as Division Three Champions, Bradford City played Lincoln City in the last game of the season.
