I was with USAF, we evaced several injured to hospital in Algiers..French military forbid our leaving with survivors till a French C-47 loaded and took off ahead of our SA-16.
Algeria was under French rule at the time, they had to be first off, very big political issue, as I recall. On our last flight out, we saw French airman receiving commendation medals for their participation. But we were there first, with the most, I'm still very proud of the USA/58th AIr Rescue Sqdn. Bob
