Balmoral State High School Golden Jubilee Celebrations!!! In 2008, Balmoral State High School celebrates 50 years of quality public education. The school was officially opened on February 3, 1958 with 166 students and 6 teaching staff. Since then it has witnessed many changes in educational theory and practice, in school population and in the local community. Today the school hosts 532 students from Years 8-12, including a thriving International Student Program, 50 teachers and 25 support staff. The only secondary school in the award-winning Gateway Learning Community, Balmoral is proud of its past as it continually seeks to build hopeful futures for every young person who joins the ranks of the thousands of students who have graduated into society through its gates. Students and Staff from the last 50 years are invited to reunite & share memories with old friends, as they choose, throughout the year. Already some year levels have organised events. Anyone interested in organising or participating in an event for their graduating year or general era, is invited to post a notice * A group of past students is working to collate & restore historical records & memorabilia to produce a Commemorative Booklet & a Museum Collection as part of the celebrations.* An Alumni of past students is also being established. * On the weekend 24-26 October, celebrations will focus at the school with the following events: Friday October 24 from Noon Guided Tours of School – by Request 2pm Whole School event on school oval including present school community. Presentation of Commemorative Booklet *Launch of Alumni Association from 3pm Informal social drinks at Colmslie Hotel Saturday October 25 & Sunday October 26 10am – 2pm Open Historical/Memorabilia Display in Assembly Hall *Registration for Alumni *Contacts: ?
